Case Study: Bringing Medieval Bohemia to Life with 3D Scans
for Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Client:
Warhorse Studios – Prague-based game development studio known for its commitment to realism and historical accuracy in gaming.

Project Overview:
Warhorse Studios partnered with us to bring their ambitious open-world RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, to life with historically accurate and visually compelling character models. To achieve this, they turned to our high-resolution 3D character scans to ensure authenticity, detail, and efficiency in their production pipeline.

Challenge:
Creating a realistic, historically grounded medieval world meant developing dozens of lifelike characters with accurate human anatomy, clothing folds, and facial features—without compromising on production timelines or realism.
Warhorse needed:
-
Hyper-detailed 3D models for game characters
-
Consistency in scale, anatomy, and detail
-
High-speed turnaround to support their development milestones

Our Solution:
We provided full-body 3D scans of male and female characters in a variety of poses and garments, tailored for immediate use in character modeling and animation workflows. Our scans included:
-
High-resolution body and face captures
-
Client present in real time during photogrammetry scanning
-
Detailed diffuse texture maps
Each scan was processed to ensure compatibility with Warhorse’s asset pipeline and real-time rendering engine.

Results:
-
Warhorse significantly reduced character modeling time and increased consistency across models.
-
The realism and historical accuracy of the characters became a major selling point of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, frequently praised in reviews and fan feedback.
-
The scans were used as the base for over 40 in-game characters, speeding up production while retaining visual fidelity.

Impact:
Our collaboration helped Warhorse deliver on their vision of a grounded, immersive medieval experience. The use of authentic human scans allowed animators and rigging artists to focus on expressive performances rather than base mesh creation.
Client Feedback:
“Using real 3D scans for our characters allowed us to achieve a level of realism that would’ve been nearly impossible in our timeframe. The detail and anatomical accuracy made a huge difference in immersion.”
